William J. Montford, III Middle School (Montford Middle School) is a public middle school in Tallahassee, Florida. It opened in August 2008 for students in grades 6 and 7. The following year it opened to 8th graders as well. The facilities were planned to eventually house four academic grades.[2]

The school is named after William J. "Bill" Montford, III. Montford started his education career as a math teacher at Tallahassee's Belle Vue Middle School. He served eight years as an assistant principal and 18 years as a Leon County Schools high school principal.[3] He was elected to the Leon County Commission in 1982 and served six years. In 1996, he was elected Superintendent of Leon County Schools and served from 1996 to 2006.[4] Montford currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Florida Association of District School Superintendents (FADSS).[3][4]

Montford Middle School was one of two schools in the Leon County Schools District selected to receive solar installations as part of the Schools on Solar program. The installed systems assist in producing hot water and electricity, and can record and display information about the generating systems for the edification of students and others.[5]
