- Monmouth SPCA
-
Monmouth SPCA is different from the ASPCA; it is a distinct and separate agency. Pets can be adopted easily, after a quick thorough background check. They are partners with the store across the street, Maureen O'Brien Cats and Dogs Thrift Store. All profits from this store go directly to the Monmouth County SPCA. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to enforcing animal cruelty laws, and rescuing stray pets, and providing a spay and neuter program to reduce pet overpopulation.

History
The Monmouth County SPCA was founded in 1945.
Adoptions
Animals up for adoption include dogs, cats, rabbits, pet rats, gerbils, hamsters, birds, and occasionally farm animals. This is a no-kill shelter, which screens the whole adoptive family before releasing an animal.
Donations
The Monmouth SPCA accepts donations of money, volunteer time, and items. The specific organizations that you can donate to are the Building Renovation Fund, Dutchess Veterinary Care Fund, Humane Law Enforcement Fund, or the Spay/Neuter Fund. All donations are appreciated and go directly to helping the animals who need help the most.
Humane Law Enforcement
The Monmouth County SPCA also works to protect animals from abuse. The Humane Law Enforcement Division investigates more than 900 animal cruelty complaints every year, and accepts anonymous calls which result in useful information.
Services
In the dog obedience training, dogs can go to puppy kindergarten, basic dog obedience, intro to agility, and foundation skills for agility. The Vogel-SPCA Spay/Neuter clinic offers a low cost way to Spay or neuter your cat or dog. They also have pet bereavement counseling. The Maureen O'Brien Thrift Store sends all of their profits to the MCSPCA. Lastly, they offer Humane Education, so that the next generation will not harm dogs or cats.
