He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party in the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.[1]
Mohd Nasir has also been a member of the State Assembly of Terengganu and was a member of the state's Executive Council.[2][3] Mohd Nasir was elevated to the federal Parliament in the 2008 election for the seat of Kuala Nerus.[4][5]
