Meyer Family Farm in Illinois

The Meyer Family Farm is located in the Adams County, Illinois city of Quincy. The family farm was named a Centennial farm in the Illinois Centennial Farms Program [1] in 2000. In 1852 John Titus Meyer left his home in Ehrenkirchen Baden Germany and came to Quincy. John Titus Meyer and his three sons started a Custom Thrashing business in 1854 and ten years later purchased the homestead farm in 1864.

Today the farm participates in the Conservation Reserve Program to convert highly erodible cropland to vegetative cover in order to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality, and increase wildlife habitat.
