Characters and Introduction

Delhi Kumar as Chidambaram. The story revolves around the lives and pains of his five daughters and eventually his. He is very patient and does not get easily provoked. A land broker by profession. He is very well respected by all. His wife died when his children were young itself so he brought up his children to a very disciplined girls. At the end of the serial, Chidambaram died of depression.

Kaveri as Dhanam, Chidambaram's eldest daughter who is married to her uncle, Bose. A woman who is full of love for her younger sisters, but doesn't know how to show it. She is always in an argumentative mood and doesn't hesitate to give rude omments. She is blessed with an understanding uncle-come-husband and who tolerates her and a daughter who resembles her in character

Gayathri as Saroja. Chidambaram's second daughter who is married to Manikam. The couple has a son, Natarajan. Saro resembles her father a lot in having patience always. Easy target for victimization and bears with domestic violence become synonymous to Saro after her wedding to Manikkam. Saro symbolizes majority of middle income class woman in Indian society. Chidambaram worries in this world is Saro and her life. Torturing mother-in-law, violent husband, who uses the violence to end any conversation where he loses and sister-in-law, Nirmala who gets jealous very easily when ever she sees Saro happy. Saro's brother-in-law, Selvam is the only one who understands Saro.

Vanaja as Leela. Chidambaram's third daughter who is married to Ravi. They have twins of girls. A brave and smart girl. Even though her husband suspects her constantly, she tolerates it. She loved Selvam but did not get married with him because of Selvam's mother Rajam, who tortures Saro. ravi tortures leela very much.

Uma Maheshwari as Viji. Chidambaram's fourth daughter who is married to Gopi. She registered marriage with a photographer but he cheated her so she did not like any guys. She used to work as a nurse in his clinic. Viji was married to Gopi. Gopi is an ideal man. He is very lovely to Viji and whenever he tries to be close with Viji, she avoids because she thought of her boyfriend. Viji's mood always changes and Gopi hates that attitude.

Revathi Priya as Bavani : Chidambaram's youngest daughter. A very smart girl. She is the only one who is highly educated in their family. She was loved by ramesh and by harsha but she didn't. She becomes a doctor in the end part of the serial. The serial ended with Bhavani's wedding.

Bose : Brother of Chidambaram's wife and husband of Thanam. He used to own a soda company but bankrupt. He is a very hardworking man. Whatever business he tries to open, there is a huge loss. At the end, Bose will succeed after many circumstances.

Chetan as Manikam. Husband of Saroja. He is not highly educated, he is so rude and not exposed to a very civilized family environment, brought up a single parent. He sees his wife Saro as an outsider-insider and he expects her to reflect his temper and mood all the times. Manikam is expect in vegetable business. he had relationship with a businessman's wife, Sarala which continued for a while even after the wedding with Saro. Manikkam respects his father in law, but is bent strongly by his love for his mother.

Ravi : Husband of Leela. The couples has twins of girls. He is not happy with the babies because they are girls. He suspects his wife even though she is very sincere to her husband. Ravi married Sumathy before he married Leela. He does not seem to think of Sumathy any more, but he is sure that Leela thinks of her lover Selvam always. Ravi's parents support Leela. Ravi does business by selling electrical appliances.

Thirumurugan as Gopi. He is the ideal husband any woman would want to have. He was arranged to get married with Nirmala but he mistakenly thought Viji is the bride and loved her. He is very loving to Viji but Viji avoids him at times. Gopi works in a sewing company. Gopi helps Bose to get his work. Gopi's father is very supportive. Gopi's siblings expects everything from Gopi.

Shanti Williams as Rajam. Mother of Manikam, Selvam and Nirmal. A young widow burdened with the task of rearing three children, she faced the world with her resoluteness and a determination to succeed.

Selvam : Second son of Rajam also brother of Manikam and Nirmala. A very sweet and understanding person. He loved Leela but did not get married with her because of his mother's character. He got married with Arundhati but she left him and ran away with her boyfriend.

Nirmala : Nirmala is the only daughter of Rajam. She is educated. She is married to Santosh and they have a daughter. She was in love with Ramesh and was snubbed by him for that, with a public humiliation that came with it. Nirmala is supposed to get married with Gopi but Gopi loved Viji.

Thiruselvam as Santosh. Husband of Nirmala. He is an educated guy. He keeps venturing into failing business ventures and uses the brothers-in-law as his financiars. He left his pregnant wife and gone away.

Ramesh : Son of former boss of Manikam's. Nirmala loved Ramesh but he did not. Ramesh loves Bhavani until he flew to Singapore to meet her. Bhavani is not interested and he will be a drug-addict. At the end, Nirmala will help to bring back the old Ramesh.

Arundhati : Wife of Selvam. She was forced by her father to marry Selvam. She is a from a rich family. She ran away with her boyfriend after marrying Selvam.
