The paper is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and distributed in Oklahoma City, Enid, Lawton, Norman with other distribution outlets in Northwest Arkansas, Southwest Missouri and Wichita, Kansas.[1]
Content
The stated mission of the Metro Star is to promote equality and speak out on gay rights issues.[1] Metro Star is a monthly newspaper and lifestyle publication with primary focus on the Oklahoma GLBT community. The editorial policy is very liberal and is presently the only statewide newspaper in print and online for GLBT Oklahomans. Metro Star corporate entity was the publisher of the Ozarks Star Magazine launched in 2003 and changed the name to Metro Star in 2008. The Metro Star refers to itself as "The Premier Source and Voice for GLBT Oklahomans."
Awards
Metro Star was the recipient of the 2010 Stand Award for "Best Media Representation" from an Enid, Oklahoma GLBT organization named ENIDGLBT, while staff writer Victor Gorin was awarded "Best Journalist for 2010."[2]
