Infrastructure

Kalibo International Airport

The airport is primarily intended to be the international gateway of Boracay. By the creation, however, of the Metropolitan Area, it will also serve as the principal point of entry of the metro. The airport caters regular and chartered international flights from South Korea, China, Taiwan and some other areas in the region. It has also regular domestic flights coming from and to Manila, and with some seasonal flights to Cebu.

Dumaguit and New Washington Ports

Prior to the booming tourism industry of Aklan, it was Dumaguit Port that played the role of being the major seaport of the Province, and the New Washington Port as complementary. But at the present time, the distinction was transferred to Caticlan Jettyport. With this metropolitan area, the two seaports will be designated as the major point of entries of those vessels trading and transporting passengers therein.

Kalibo Jetty Port

A Memoramdum of Understanding (MOU) between Aklan Gov. Carlito S. Marquez, Sacred Heart of Jesus Prime Holdings, Inc.(SHJPHI) and the Blue Chip Builders, Inc. (BCBI) has been entered into to jointly build tourism infrastructure facilities and develop Lambingan beach in Barangay Pook as an additional tourism destination in Kalibo.[1]

The proposed Kalibo Jetty Port will serve as a jump-off point for the tourist coming to Boracay who are passing through Kalibo International Airport. Hence, there will be no over-lapping with the functions of the two New Washington Ports.

Proposed Kalibo Circumferential Road

The west section project is a 6.20-kilometer at junction of Kalibo-Iloilo National Road along Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo. The bridge will then be constructed westward to the riverbank of the Aklan River. A 820-meter Kalibo Bridge 2 will connect Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo and Barangay Mina, Lezo.
