- McKinney Creek Stadium
-
McKinney Creek Stadium was a temporary venue constructed for the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, California. The venue itself was located near Tahoma in Placer County. It hosted the biathlon, cross country skiing, and the cross-country skiing portion of the nordic combined events.
Work started on the venue in August 1959 and was completed in time of the 1960 Games. The venue itself 250 meters long and 45 meters wide. Its bleachers seated 200 media and 1000 spectators and included a scoreboard that was 54 ft wide and 13 ft tall, located 12 ft off of the ground. Two quonset huts were used, one for the media, and another for site administration.
All of the winter events near the stadium took place both in Placer County and neighboring El Dorado County.
