Maulana Mahboob Alam (1863-1933), lived in Gujranwala Pakistani journalist and publisher, He is a pioneer [1] in Pakistan journalism, and in 1888 he founded[2] the daily newspaper Paisa Akhbar (Penny Newspaper) covering political-social news.
Around 1900 he traveled [3] to Europa, by ship to Trieste, Italy and voyaged to Germany, France and England. During his travels he made detailed observations that were later published in Paisa Akhbar. The articles were later compiled as Safanama Europe or Ka Yurap.
He is also known as Moulvi Munshi Mahboob Alam. The titles Moulvi and Munshi denote a respected scholar, a scribe. Munshi is from the Persian “insha”, used more in the sense of a “clerk”.
