Matt Johnson (1872 – 1935) was a newspaper publisher and a Republican politician from North Dakota who served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1909 to 1910.[1] He was from Omemee, North Dakota, and served as publisher and editor of the Omemee Herald in that town.[2][3]
Early life
Johnson was born in Northwood, Iowa, February 1, 1872. He moved to Dakota Territory with this family in 1879, where they settled in Caledonia in Traill County.[4] He moved to Omemee in 1901 and purchased the Omemee Herald in 1905.[2]
Political career
Johnson was elected as a Republican to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1908, and served just one term. He represented North Dakota's 28th legislative district alongside Edward L. Garden of Souris, North Dakota.[5]
