Martina Majerle Origin Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia) Genres Pop Occupations Singer Instruments Vocals Martina Majerle (born May 2, 1980 in Rijeka, Croatia) is a Croatian singer. Majerle represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia with the string quartet Quartissimo with the song "Love Symphony".[1] It competed in the second semi-final but failed to reach the final. Martina was also backing vocalist for Croatia in Eurovision 2003, Slovenia 2007, Montenegro 2008 and once again Slovenia 2011. Majerle is of Slovene and Bosnian origin.
She is a student of Economics.
She made her first serious steps into the world of music as the lead singer of the Rijeka band Putokazi. She continued her musical career as a soloist in the ambient-electro-pop band Atmospheric.[2]
As a back vocalist, Martina performed at many concerts at home and abroad. She accompanied many famous musicians from the former Yugoslav region, amongst them were Oliver Dragojević,[1] Tereza Kesovija[1] in Olympia (Paris), Zdravko Čolić,[1] the band Novi Fosili, Severina,[1] Massimo Savić,[2] Nina Badrić, Vanna, Toni Cetinski,[1] Vesna Pisarović, Radojka Šverko, Maja Blagdan, etc.
As a backing vocalist, Martina has performed at the Eurovision Song Contest four times before: in 2003 with the Croatian representative, Claudia Beni, in 2007 with the Slovene representative, Alenka Gotar,[2] in 2008 with the Montenegrin representative, Stefan Filipović and in 2011 with Slovene representative, Maja Keuc.
Martina has recently become a member of the Croatian RTV orchestra and is involved in all the big projects regarding the Croatian national broadcaster.
