The Jordan Civil Aviation Authority, has planned on expanding the airport by adding gates and more parking space for airlines, at the same time the agreement has been signed by the JCAA and Aeroport de Paris, and the plan is excpected to start in the summer of 2012 and end in the year of 2015..[citation needed]
After the War began in Iraq in early 2002 the United States military used the airport because it was close to Iraq at that time.[citation needed]
