He has been one of the key musicians in the Broken Beat and Nu Jazz movements, blending jazz, ethnic music and urban grooves into a 21st Century sound. He has been involved with over 150 releases collaborating with as diverse a range of artists as Lauryn Hill, Jody Watley, Sy Smith, UK soul Omar, percussionist Sammy Figueroa (Miles Davis), bass player Pino Palladino (D'Angelo/The Who).
For over the past ten years, de Clive-Lowe has been touring in the US, UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Cuba.
After two world tours de Clive-Lowe has taken his "Six Degrees live show" global including at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Amsterdam Drum Rhythm Festival, London Jazz Festival and throughout Europe, Asia and Australasia.
His debut album Six Degrees was released worldwide in 2000. De Clive-Low released Tide's Arising March 22, 2005 on ABB Soul/Antipodean. The album features Pino Palladino. Tide's Arising was considered to be one of the most groundbreaking new jazz albums from the UK in 2005.[1]
Mark de Clive-Lowe's new album, Renegades, will be released November 14, 2011 on Tru Thoughts.
