Amateur career
Barroca played for Far Eastern University Senior Basketball team in University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) from 2009 to 2010. In his first season with the Tamaraws, he immediately made an impact as he averaged 10.31 points, 2.81 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. In his second season, he improved his averages to 12.71 points, 2.71 assists, and 1.57 steals.[1]
Career Highlights
Barroca is currently under the roster of the national team, Smart Gilas, headed by coach Rajko Toroman. He joined the national team, together with his other teammates from FEU, Mac Baracael and Aldrech Ramos. When Smart Gilas participated in the 2011 PBA Commissioner's Cup where the team finished in second place after the elimination round, Barroca averaged 8.23 points and 2.69 assists in 17.23 minutes of play.[2]
2011 PBA Draft
Barroca, along with 33 other rookies led by Gilas teammates JV Casio, Chris Lutz, Marcio Lassiter, Mac Baracael, Jason Ballesteros, and Dylan Ababou applied for the draft. On draft day, he was taken 5th overall by the Shopinas.com Clickers.[3] He was then traded to the B-Meg Llamados in a three-team trade that also involved the Llamados' Don Allado and fellow rookie draftee Brian Ilad, and the Barako Bull Energy Booster's Elmer Espiritu.[4]
