The Marist Red Foxes men's soccer team is the intercollegiate soccer team at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

History

In the fall of 1981 Marist College added a soccer program to join there already existing football team in the fall. With a record of 12 wins 6 losses and 1 tie. Since then Marist has had a number of successful years including in 2004. The team won four home games on its way to the MAAC Championship and NCAA tournament. The Red Foxes then repeated as MAAC Champions the following season and were admitted into the NCAA tournament for 2 consecutive years. [1]

Most Recently

Marist has struggled the past two years with a record of 3 wins 12 losses and 2 ties in 2008 and a record of 8 wins 8 losses and 2 ties in 2009. The red foxes have been in a rebuilding stage throughout the past 3 years and anticipate much better results in their future campaign. Head coach Matt Vigiano believes that this is a team that has national championship capabilities and the new recruits coming in will only help the cause. [2]

Athletic Facilities

Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff

n October 6, 2007 the construction of Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field was completed. The name change of the athletics field was made to honor Tim Tenney, CEO of Pepsi-Cola of the Hudson Valley, who provided the lead gift for the stadium renovation project. The Marist football, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse programs call the stadium home. With a capacity of 5,000 the stadium offers both chair back seating in the grand stand and additional seating located on the West Berm. In order to complete the project the old stadium was removed along with the press box. The new stadium offers much more with VIP suites, press booth, training rooms, and dressing rooms, with all the latest technologies.

James J. McCann Center

A state-of-the-art, $3 million, 20,000-square-foot (1,900 m2) Fitness Center was completed in the fall of 1997, during a major renovation to the James J. McCann Recreation Center for Marist Athletics. Includes the following recreation: McCann Natatorium, Strength & Conditioning Center, McCann Field House [1]
