Maria Papapetros is a psychic and spiritual healer who has served as a spiritual consultant to individuals within the entertainment industry, law enforcement agencies, world leaders and major financial institutions. She teachesPsychic Empowerment Workshopsand leads creative meditation worldwide. She is also involved trying to bring the field of parapsychology to the mainstream.

Early life and career

Papapetros was born into a family on the isle of Crete in Greece in which many members of her family claimed psychic powers. Her father worked as a psychic healer and two of her aunts worked as psychics.

Papapetros began delving into her own psychic abilities in 1970 at age 26 when she was living in Los Angeles and wasdiscoveredby spiritual consultant Gail Eaton, to whom she went for advice. Eaton suggested Papapetross psychic talents[1]. Soon after, Papapetros began studying metaphysics and meditation with psychic Joan Culpepper. In 1974, Papapetros opened her first practice in Beverly Hills, CA[2].

While she has flown as far as Tokyo[3] to consult with clients, Papapetros has homes and offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Sugar Land, TX, and Athens, Greece. She has written two self-awareness books and has produced a series of meditation CDs. She currently resides in New York City.

Papetros studied psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles.

Papapetros has been a guest on many national television programs, including Late Night With David Letterman, Donnie & Marie,[disambiguation needed ] The Maury Povich Show, Entertainment Tonight, Inside Edition and E! Entertainment Television and the Fox News.[citation needed] She has also appeared in periodicals such as Vogue, Redbook, Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour and Ellopia Press Magazine USA.[citation needed]

In January 2011, Papapetros partnered with Lifetime Television and their Year Of You promotion, where readers of The Cosmic Lowdown blog on Lifetimes website could enter for a chance to win a private psychic reading with Papapetros.

Ties To Law Enforcement

In 1978, Papapetros spoke to law-enforcement officials about the Jim Jones mass-suicide case in Guyana. Papapetros also worked with many of the defectors and survivors at the Human Freedom Foundation, which was set up to help former members of the cult deprogram themselves[4].

From 1978-1979 she was brought in as a psychic consultant on the Hillside Strangler murders in Los Angeles. In 1992, she consulted with the Harris County Sheriffs office in Texas regarding Rex Warren Mays, who was later convicted of killing two girls and was subsequently executed in 2002[2].

Ties To Hollywood

Having worked with numerous celebrities, producers and actors, Papapetros is known by many asPsychic to the Stars[5]. In addition to film and television projects, Papapetros has acted as psychic consultant to two of actress Demi Moores films, “The Butchers Wife[5] andGhost[5]. ForThe Butchers Wife,” she was the first person to receive an on-screen credit for an off-screen role aspsychic consultant.”[6] In addition to Moore, the films producer and director were both clients of Papapetros at the time.[7]

Papapetross celebrity clients have included Goldie Hawn[citation needed], Mary Steenburgen[citation needed], Kelly Rutherford[citation needed], Dennis Haysbert[citation needed], Marcia Cross[citation needed], and Vanessa Williams, who has even hosted one of PapapetrossPsychic Empowerment Workshopsat her home[8]. Contributions To Parapsychology

In 1980, Papapetros participated in a study at UCLAs Department of Psychology. Conducted by Dr. Jan Berlin, it was one of the first controlled investigations of parapsychology[10]
