Mar Yohannan Yoseph (born 14 November 1966) is an Bishop belonging to the Assyrian Church of the East in India who was consecrated on 17 January 2010 by His Holiness Maran Mar Dinkha IV,Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East.

Childhood

Mar Yohannan Yoseph was born in Thrissur near East Fort as Joju Anto. He is the seventh of the nine children of Therattil Chirakkekaran Antony and his wife Annah (Cicily teacher). He completed his preliminary schooling from Chaldean Syrian School & Model High School for Boys and secured Bachelors Degree in Commerce from Calicut University in 1989. He studied at Mar Thoma Theological Seminary Kottayam (1990–1994) and earned Bachelor's in Divinity (B.D.) Degree from Senate of Serampore College (University), Kolkata, India. In 1998 joined in St. Ephrem Ecumenical Research Institute (SEERI), Kottayam and secured a Masters degree in Assyrian Language and Literature in 2000 from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, India. Same year end, he went to Iraq and continued the Assyrian Language studies till 2003 march. From 2004 onwards he is a Research Scholar of Mahatma Gandhi University at Kottayam in Assyrian Language and Literature.

Ordination

In 1989 April 16, the late Dr Poulose Mar Poulose Episcopa ordained him as a deacon at Mar Adhai Sleeha Church, Paravattani. In 1999 April 11, His Grace Dr. Mar Aprem Metropolitan ordained him as a Qashisha at Mar Yohannan Mamdhana Church, East Fort, Thrissur. During the period 1996–1998 he also worked as a Secretary to Dr. Mar Aprem Metropolitan and Dr Poulose Mar Poulose Episcopa. He was raised to archdeacon by His Grace Mar Aprem, two days before the Episcopal consecration. On 17 January 2010 he received episcopal consecration as bishop of the Holy Catholic Assyrian Church of the East in India by H.H. Maran Mar Dinkha IV.

As Deacon Joju,he was assistant vicar of Mar Narsai Church Kachery, St. Thomas Church Ernakulam, Mar Qardhakh Sahdha Church Chennai, Mar Sleeva Church Cochin, Mart Mariyam Church Koratty, Mar Timotheus Church Calicut, Mar Beesho Church Puthoor. After his ordination as Qashisha he served as Assistant Vicar at Mar Adhai Sleeha Church, Paravattani and Mar Oudisho Church at Baghdad. He formed a Parish at Kottayam and established a church there in the name of Mar Abdisho. He was the Vicar General of Archdiocese in India and the Vicar at Mar Joseph Church Kunnamkulam,when he was nominated as the Episcopal candidate. He is also one among the Executive Member of Kerala Council of Churches(KCC)and the executive member of National Council of Churches in India. He is also the president of Mar Thoma Ashram (Orphanage for Boys) at Mulayam.
