It has 13 departments (One-MBA, Five-Engineering, Four-Research and Three-Auxiliary). It is one of the premier engineering colleges in North India and was ranked 29th best engineering college in India by the Dataquest Magazine.
It is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi(commonly known as the IP University, Delhi). The college campus is located at PSP Area, Sector-22, Rohini, New Delhi-110085.

History
MAIT was established in 1999 by the Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society (MATES), promoted by a group of industrialists, businessmen, professionals and philanthropists.
The college derives it name from the legendary Indian king, Maharaja Agrasen of Agroha.
Campus
The MAIT campus is located in Rohini Sector-22, North Delhi, spread over an area of 10.5 acres (42,000 m2). The campus has a main Administrative Block, Eight educational blocks for the branches and two blocks for MAIMS(MBA, BBA & BJMC). The campus has a boy's hostel, multi-story library, canteen, amphitheater, an auditorium, a football and cricket ground.
MAIT offers MBA and B.Tech programmes. MBA Classes are held in Management Division and B.Tech classes are held in Engineering Division.
MAIMS offers BBA and BJMC programmes.
Admissions
Post-Graduate Programmes (MBA)
All the admissions in MBA courses are done through CET conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University.[1] In recent years, MAIT has become a preferred choice for top ranking students in CET, over the other B-Schools taking admission under the same GGSIPU CET.
Under-Graduate Programmes (B.Tech)
All the admissions in B.Tech courses are done through CET conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. [2]
MAIT has grown into one of the best engineering colleges in Delhi-NCR in recent years and CET toppers have preferred it over Bharti Vidyapeeth(BVP),Delhi. Its ranked behind IIT-D,NSIT,DTU and USIT among the engineering colleges in Delhi and both Computer Science & Engg(CSE) and Electronics & Communications(ECE) streams fill up before Rank 2000 of CET. The first shift admission close entirely by ranks 4000-4200. [3]

Major festivals
- Genesis, is the annual Management & Cultural festival, organized by MBA Department.
- Techsurge, is the annual inter college technical fest.
- Mridang, the annual inter college cultural fest of MAIT is witnessed during the even semester of every academic year. The fest has events like music, dance, fashion parade, pop-show, and star night. It is considered to be one of the most happening fests in the Delhi and NCR region after the likes of the fest of IIT-D and NSIT-MOKSHA. It attracts sponsorships from the top corporate houses of India like Infosys, SAIL, Wipro etc.
These fests comprise of 3 day extravaganza.[4]
Placements
Several IT giants and core companies visit the campus of MAIT such as Adobe, ThoughtWorks, Ericsson, IBM, Capital IQ, Computer Science Corporation(CSC), Mu Sigma, Accenture, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Impetus Tech.,TCS, IBM, HCL Infosystems, Syntel, Cognizant Inc, Sms Siemag, Honda SIEL, Tata AIG, Halonix, Jindal Steel, Jai Bharat Maruti etc. For 2007-11 batch, Infosys took a record 248 students from the college while Accenture too placed 122 students, seeing an overall 150% placements.
