Magallu

Magallu

Magallu is an exemplarily beautiful village and an example for a perfect village in Andhra which reflects Indian culture and tradition in people's hearts and the air around.

It is around 8 km from Nandigama Town of Krishna District. Magallu has a population of around 10000 with families from various cultures and religious background leading a secular and happy life.

The village is surrounded by fertile paddy fields, maize fields and apart from Agriculture being the predominant occupation of the people staying here, Magallu also drew upon the services of blacksmiths, laundryworkers, goldsmiths and people from other working classes making it a complete mixture, thus strengthening the distinctive spirit of our culture and our era- "Unity in Diversity".

The people here are very kind and generous in receiving guests/tourists from any part of the world. They have voluntarily taken up projects like "Milk Dairy", "Gobar Gas", "Co-Operative Bank" for their great Leap Forward towards self-development rather than depending on the government for their upliftment. The village also ensured that every kid living in Magallu should not miss on the valuable part in anyone's life - "EDUCATION" thereby setting up a School that follows the State Syllabus of AP. This school provides education till 10th standard.

Apart from interesting people, this place has some historic temples(Gudi as it is called in local language of Telugu) of great significance:
1. Sivalayam:- A very old Lord Shiva temple. This temple has the poojari's from a single family performing rituals since many Generations.
2. Gopala swamy gudi: - surrounded by fertile Paddy fields and Divine chantings in the air, this temple of Lord Gopala (a re-incarnation of Lord Vishnu) is a perfect place to meditate and feel closer to the great Lord Vishnu.

One of the most famous tourist destination for the people around is the "Pallagiri Gutta" which has Muneru back waters flowing by the Pallagiri hill. The visitors here have a peculiar hobby of collecting various attractive stones from the sand under the water. Offlate, these backwaters have gone dry over the years and currently we find only one or two water strips flowing by. Palligiri has a Temple and Church adjacent to each other.
