Dusi is a census town in Tiruvanamalai district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Geography

Dusi is located at 12°46′N 79°41′E / 12.77°N 79.68°E / 12.77; 79.68[1]. It has an average elevation of 74 metres (242 feet).

This Village have one of the five biggest reservoir (Dusi Mamandur Lake) of Tamil Nadu and it is 3 KM away from Palar River

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[2], Dusi had a population of 5102. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Dusi has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71% and, female literacy is 48%. In Dusi, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This small village also have more link with the temple town Kancheepuram which is 9 km away. To this place, Lord Vardha (Varadharaja Perumal) will visit on every Chithira Pournami (around April 15) to every house in the village.

Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple - Mamandur

The village of Mamandur (near Dusi) belongs to the Thondai mandalam which is famous for its temples. Among the 108 Sri Vaishnavaite shrines, 22 are situated in and around Kanchipuram. Our Acharyas like Sriman Ramanujar, Thirukachi Nambi, Koorathazhwan, Mudaliandan, Embar, Vedanta Desikar were all born in Thondai mandalam.

Mamandur has a century old Sundaravalli Nayika sametha Sri Lakshmi Narayana Perumal kovil, which is a place where the Lord grants wishes of his devotees. The moolavar having Sri Lakshmi Prattiyar on his lap is regarded very powerful. The temple also has Raghu Kethu dosha nivarthaka icon on the floor of temple prakaaram and Adhiseshan with Aanjaneya for all graha dosha nivarthakam.

60 years after its last renovation in 1950, the temple has been recently renovated in 2010 and with the efforts of some good people and the Samprokshanam happened on 5 September 2010 (Sunday) in Simha Lagnam between 0530 am to 0700 am.
