Career and views
Kevin Lau, D.C., graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the RMIT University in 2003 and he also obtained a Masters degree in Holistic Nutrition from the American institution Clayton College of Natural Health. He is a member of the Chiropractic Association of Australia. He practices as a Chiropractor and Clinical Nutritionist for Orchard Clinic Osteopathic, Chiropractic and Podiatry.[1]
Lau's methods of scoliosis treatment are in contrast to scientifically-proven methods and also separate his treatment method from other chiropractors.[citation needed] Lau claims individualized exercises, nutrition and his iPhone app that graphs changes in spinal curvature have a way of reversing and even curing scoliosis.[3] This claim has not been proven. In the context of promoting his book, he has stated that "scoliosis, and other disorders, can be completely cured and treated effectively."[4] The National Scoliosis Foundation maintains that there is no cure for scoliosis.[5]
Lau is a student of metabolic typing, a program promoted by a company called HealthExcel in which an individual's diet is tailored to what is thought to be that person's unique metabolism. The validity of this technique has not been scientifically established. HealthExcel runs a certification process for the practice and Lau is certified as "Level 1" by them.[6]
His research into the varying elements of spinal conditions brought him to write and self-publish Your Plan for Natural Scoliosis Prevention and Treatment: Health In Your Hands. He also developed the iPhone app ScolioTrack[2] and an exercise DVD to be utilized in his natural treatment methods for scoliosis.
In 2006 Lau was awarded the "Best Health-care Provider Awards" by the Straits Time October 18, 2006.[7][8]

Lau developed, and then released in March 2011 an iPhone app called Scolio Track, which claims to help individuals track the curvature of their spines.[9]
