Dr. Harrison Kellor (2011)Doctor Elaine Cassidy is a fictional character from the British BBC One soap opera Doctors, played by Janet Dibley. She made her first on-screen appearance on 31 August 2010 in the episode "Frozen" series twelve, episode eighty-nine of the program. Dibley had made two former unrelated guest appearances in Doctors in 2003 and 2009. Her role in the show is that of General practitioner at The Mill Health Centre and The Campus Surgery.

Character creation and casting
On 28 May 2010, Doctors series producer Peter Eryl Lloyd told media entertainment website Digital Spy that a new female doctor, Elaine would be introduced to Doctors.[1] Lloyd said Elaine would "have a new take on the surgery" and "be very interesting to have around".[1] Former EastEnders actress Janet Dibley was cast in the role of Dr Elaine Cassidy.[2] Dibley described Elaine as "a bit New Age" and "heavily into meditation".[2] On joining the show, Dibley commented: "Doctors is filmed in Birmingham three months ahead of transmission and the schedule is very intense. We have to be on set by 7am and work with three film units at three different locations, juggling up to 12 scripts at any one time. But I’m loving every second of it."[2] Dibley previously appeared in Doctors in episodes "Doctors Are from Mars" and "Heal Thyself", playing Fiona Roberts and Helen McWellan respectively.[3]
Character Background
Elaine is an open-minded person and has tried to bring new things to the Mill. She lived in Norfolk where she had a relationship with Paul Foster; a married father of one. She moved from Norfolk to Letherbridge to start a new life in the West Midlands with her new job and her patients to take centre stage.
Storylines
Scarlet Hammond's Child Abuse (2010)
Elaine was involved in the child abuse case of two-year old Scarlet Hammond. Elaine was the GP for Scarlet's social worker; Najmah Hammed. Scarlet was drowned by her abusive mother and fellow doctor, Dr Simon Bond took it hard as he was Scarlet's GP.
Dealings with Ed Harman (2011)
Mentally ill patient of Dr Heston Carter, Ed Harman suffered with his illness and struggled to integrate back into society after leaving Afghanistan. He attempted to kill Heston Carter after the staff at the Mill tried to help him. Ed believed he was locked in a room by Heston, when actually it was nervous Health care assistant, Karen Hollins. Ed tried to kill Heston at the Campus Surgery were Elaine was present and hit Ed over the head with a fire extinguisher. Elaine stayed at the hospital with Ed until he was released and after he left she invited him back to stop at her house for a while.
