Dover High School has a principal, Eugene Montaño, and assistant principals Courtney Cooper, Tiff McCullough, and Kevin Turner.

Special programs
Dover High School plans to offer a program for students to become certified nursing assistants.[6][7]
Since 2006, members of Dover High's Japanese Club have participated in a cultural exchange program with its sister school located in Kakuda, Japan.[8]
Referendum
A 2010 Capital School District referendum on funding for a new Dover High School and renovation of other district schools passed on March 31.[9] Construction of the new school is expected to begin in the spring of 2011.[10]
Awards and achievements
In 2009 a record-breaking number of AP Scholars were recognized at the school. A total of 49 students were named for 2010, 2 of them also being named as National AP Scholars.[11]
Dover High School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1986.[12]
The school has made Newsweek's list of America's Best High Schools for 5 straignt years since 2006.[13] Below is a table of Newsweek's ratings of Dover High School.

The school has entered the "Odyssey of the Mind",[15] and did well.[16] The team placed 7th in the World Finals in 2009.[17]

- Caleb "Tex" Warrington, center and guard for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1946 to 1948.
- Robert Crumb, cartoonist, graduated in 1961.
- Carl Ergenzinger, drafted as a catcher and third baseman by the Houston Astros in 1965.
- Thomas Sullivan, drafted as a pitcher by the Cleveland Indians in 1969.
- Ralph Jean, drafted as a pitcher by the Oakland Athletics in 1978.
- Renie Martin, pitcher for the San Francisco Giants from 1982 to 1984.
- Randy Bush, outfielder for the Minnesota Twins from 1982 to 1993.
- Mike Meade, fullback for the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions from 1982 to 1985.
- Isaiah Wright, drafted as a pitcher by the Montreal Expos in 2002.
- Rob Tornoe, award-winning editorial cartoonist for the New York Observer's Politicker.com.
