History
Don Bosco Catholic Secondary School co-ed institution with approximately 800 students, as of 2009/2010. The school opened its doors 1978 at its former temporary location on Dixon Road. The school then moved to its second temporary location on Ludstone Drive, at Kipling Ave and Dixon Rd. In 1981 the faculty and the families of the students asked for a permanent location for Don Bosco. The Etobicoke Board of Education decided to sell to the Separate School Board the site used for Keiller Mackay Collegiate Institute, a 12 year old Public Secondary School located at 2 St. Andrew's Blvd., a short walk from Don Bosco's location at the time. The move was not smooth. When news of the sale was announced to the student body at Keiller Mackay during morning announcements a large group of students were extremely upset that their school had been sold out from underneath them without consulatation or warning and took steps to save their school. That afternoon several Toronto Transit Commission busses were hired to take groups of students to Queen's Park (Toronto) to protest and another group to the CityTV building to bring public attention to what was happening with the help of reporter Colin Vaughan. Attention was brought to the circumstances of the sale and through a law-suit launched by parents of some of the students of KMCI, the result of which was that the sale was delayed by one year. In the summer of 1983 Don Bosco then moved to its present, permanent, location at 2 St. Andrew's Blvd.
