Plot

Set in Rajasthan, Do Saheliyaan focuses on unaccepted friendship between a daughter of a Rajput, Maithili (Sulagna Panigrahi) and a poor Rabari villager Bhawri (Ankita Srivastava). Even though the girls are best friends, they can't be together since Maithali is a Rajput and Bhavri is a Rabari.

The story starts off by showing Bhavri and Maithili as young children, Bhavri's uncle chooses to elope with Maithilis Aunt. This creates a violent uproar between the two castes of Rabari and Rajputs. Maithili, after finding out that her father was headed towards Bhavri's village, runs to rescue her friend. Maithili is running through a massive fight. Bhavri's mom can sense that Maithilis life is in danger and runs into the massacre as well. As Maithili's brother is about to accidentally strike a massive blow on Maithili, Bhavri's mom jumps on Maithili and gets hit herself. This results in the death of Bhavri's mom, and the separation of Bhavri's uncle and Maithili's aunt.

Maithili's grandmother who is the head of the mansion claims that Maithili's aunt is a disgrace and feeds her information that her husband is dead. Bhavri's uncle, with his life in danger, flees his village. During Bhavri's mother's funeral her aunt, Kalindi shows up and is traumatized by the death of her sister. She vows to take revenge on the Rajputs for the death of her sister. Bhavri's aunt then marries Bhavri's dad thus making her Bhavri's stepmother. The two friends grow up and eventually unite there aunt and uncle. Because of this Maithili's grandmother and Bhavri's father feel its time to get each of the girls married to keep them out of trouble. Bhavri's stepmother Kalindi decides to take this chance to disgrace Maithili and her family.

Maithili's wedding is being arranged with the high class Rajput Shaurya Singh Shekhawat who is in the military. Kalindi goes to Shaurya's border camp and switches Maithili's photograph with Bhavri's, hoping that Shaurya and his family would believe that Maithili's family were trying to deceive him somehow. Shaurya sees Bhavri's picture and falls in love instantly. Bhavri's marriage is more difficult to arrange as Maithili's grandmother spread rumors about her throughout the village. It is the talented and educated boy Aanadi who stands up for Bhavri after observing her from afar and agrees to marry her. The girls have not seen the men whom they will wed, though Maithili has met Aanadi. Maithili and Bhavri's weddings are on the same day and Maithili wants her friend to wear the same garments as her. They are also excited to hear that both the couples will be going to the same place on their honeymoon on the same train. They feel like they are finally free to be friends.

However fate has something else in mind, as best sung in a promo "Badal Jayegi Maate ka Sindoor." The train they are on crashes.
