Diana Scheunemann (born February 11, 1975 in Germany) is a German fashion and arts photographer living in New York City.
She trained at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Switzerland. She has published three books and shot a range of editorial and advertising campaigns. She came to international attention when her first book, Ambisexual, was included on the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine in 2001 which led to her becoming a regular contributor to The Face magazine. In 2006 she was the cover story for the British Journal of Photography. She has exhibited her work around the world and is known internationally for the vibrant and energetic style of her photography. In 2007 Aesthetica magazine described her work as "alive with sensuality and emotion" retaining "an unparalleled intimacy with her subjects".[1]
Sexy, intimate, cool, youthful, playful… these are all words used to describe the distinctive aesthetic of Diana Scheunemann's photographs. The abiding theme of her prolific work, however, can be encapsulated in a single word: freedom.[2]
Even the most cursory of glances through (her work) gives the viewer the most intimate insight into her electric, scary, sexy, witty, hilarious otherworldly existence.[3]
Fashion photographer Diana Scheunemann has carved a niche in the editorial and advertising market with her in-your-face approach to sexuality.[4]
Scheunemann has shot for the following magazines: Vogue German, Soda, Bo (Bolero for Men), Kult, Rank, German Max, Qvest, The Face, Intersection[disambiguation needed ], German GQ, Adrenalin, Commons & Sense, Arena, Bolero, Max Italy, Jane, Black&White, British ELLE, Black Book, S Magazine, Pig Magazine, Sunday Times Style, Das Magazin, 125 Magazine. Celebrity portraits include Katy Perry, Mischa Barton, Mel B, Kaiser Chiefs, Paul Smith, Kelis, Shaznay Lewis, Seelenluft, The Futureheads, Le Tigre, tKatKa, and Dirty Sanchez.
