Ottawa SenatorsPlaying career 2011–present Derek Grant (born April 20, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing for the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League. He was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 4th round (119th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft .
Prior to turning professional, Grant attended Michigan State University where he played two seasons with the Michigan State Spartans men's ice hockey team which competes in NCAA's Division I in the CCHA conference.
On March 10, 2011, the Ottawa Senators signed Grant to a three-year entry-level contract.[1] He was assigned to play for the their American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, where he remained for the remainder of the 2010–11 AHL season and playoffs, culminating in winning the Calder Cup championship.[2]
