The Algemeiner Journal (Yiddish אַלגעמיינער זשורנאַל) is a New York-based Jewish, Yiddish and English weekly newspaper.

History

The Algemeiner Journal was founded in 1972 by Gershon Jacobson (1934–2005). The Algemeiner is currently owned and operated by the Gershon Jacobson Jewish Continuity Foundation. The current publisher is Simon Jacobson and the director is Dovid Efune.[1]

The Algemeiner website lists as its chairman of advisory board Dr. Elie Wiesel, and Yosef Y. Jacobson as editor in chief.[2]
