Iraq WarAwards Companion of the Order of the Bath Major-General David John Rutherford-Jones CB (born 1958) is a British Army officer and former Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Educated at Lancing College and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, David Rutherford-Jones was commissioned into the 15th/19th Hussars in 1977 and served in Cyprus, Canada, Germany, UK and Belgium.[1] He took command of The Light Dragoons in 1997.[1]
He has served as Chief of Staff of 1st Mechanised Brigade from 1993 to 1996, and then as Chief of Staff of 3rd (UK) Division, and he subsequently commanded 20th Armoured Brigade during tours of duty in Kosovo (2001/02) and Iraq (2003/04). He was Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst from 2007 to 2009 when he became Military Secretary.[2]
He is Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Army Music.[3]
Rutherford-Jones was appointed Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2010 Birthday Honours.[4]
