Daniel Fox Sandford (25 July 1831 - 20 August 1906[1]) was the Bishop of Tasmania from 1883[2] until 1889.[3] Educated at Glasgow University and ordained in 1854 he was Chaplain to the Bishop of Edinburgh, during which time he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Subsequently a vicar,[4] then canon within the area he was elevated to the Colonial Episcopate in 1883.[5] Returning to England six years later he became Rector of Boldon and Coadjutor to the Bishop of Durham[6]
His brother was Francis, Baron Sandford and their father was Sir Daniel Sandford, himself a son of Daniel Sandford, the Bishop of Edinburgh from 1806-1830.
