Daniel Sandford (bishop of Edinburgh)

The Rt Revd Daniel Sandford (1766–1830) was Bishop of Edinburgh from 1806 until 1830.

He was born in 1766 at Delville, near Dublin, Ireland, the son of Reverend Daniel Sandford and Sarah Chapone.

He married Helen Frances Catherine Douglas, on 11 October 1790. At Edinburgh, in 1792, he became minister of an Episcopal congregation for whom the Charlotte Baptist Chapel, Edinburgh was built in 1797. He graduated from Oxford University in 1802 with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D). He joined the Episcopal Church of Scotland in 1803, and was ordained bishop of Edinburgh in 1806.[1]

He and Helen had seven children, including:[2]

He died on 14 January 1830 at Edinburgh.[2]
