Dan Roan (journalist)

Dan Roan is an English sports and news broadcaster and journalist. In March 2010, he was appointed Sports Correspondent at BBC News. He has also worked at Sky Sports and Setanta Sports.

Career

Roan was educated at Wellingborough School and Cambridge University, where he studied Social and Political Science at Fitzwilliam College. In 1998, he joined the BBC's News Trainee scheme. He remained at the BBC until 2003, working first as a Politics and Regional News reporter for Look North and Radio Humberside, and then as a Business and Finance reporter on Breakfast News, Working Lunch and News 24. He left the BBC to join Sky Sports News in 2003, becoming Chief News Reporter in 2007.[1]

In 2008 Roan joined Setanta Sports as their Chief Football Reporter,[2] part of the channel’s on-screen presentation team for their live coverage of England, Premier League and FA Cup matches. After the collapse of Setanta, Roan spent a year and a half freelancing before returning to BBC News, as Sports Correspondent in March 2010.[3]
