picture =Wellingborough School is an independent fee-paying day school situated in
Wellingborough ,England in Northamptonshire. It was founded in 1595 making it one of the oldest schools in the country. The original School was a Tudor Grammar situated in the centre of the town but was moved in 1881 to the present 45 acre site. Until the year 2000 the school was still predominantly a boarding School and girls were admitted for the first time in 1979. The school is divided into three distinct sections: the Pre-Preparatory, which caters from nursery to year 3, Preparatory, catering from years 4 to 8 and the Senior school encompassing years 9 to 13. The current headmaster of the Senior School is Mr. Garry Bowe, a former deputy head.In the senior school there are five boys houses - Garne's, Fryer's, Parker-Steyne's, Cripp's and Platt's - and three girls houses - Nevill, Weymouth and Marsh.
It is renowned for its academic as well as extracurricular success, in terms of football, rugby, cricket, cross-country,
Duke of Edinburgh's award, CCF, drama, art and music. Recent drama productions have includedGuys and Dolls ,The Crucible andAnything Goes .
