Daisy Hurst Floyd (born July 9, 1956) is an American lawyer and law professor and a former law school dean. She currently is being vetted by the administration of President Obama for a nomination to a judicial seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Early life and education
Floyd attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College (now Randolph College) from 1973 until 1975.[1] She then earned a bachelor's degree summa cum laude and a master's degree in political science, both from Emory University and both in 1977. Floyd then earned a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1980.[2][3]
Early career
Early in her career, Floyd worked as the director of the legal research and writing program at the University of Georgia School of Law. She also worked as an attorney for the firm Alston, Miller & Gaines, which now is known as Alston & Bird.[4]
Academic career
Floyd served as a member of the faculty at the Texas Tech University School of Law from 1990 until 2004.
In 2004, Floyd became the dean of the Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University.[5] She held that post until 2010, when she stepped down. She remains on Mercer's faculty as a law professor.[6]
Possible nomination to the Eleventh Circuit
On February 28, 2011, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that according to lawyers familiar with the process, Floyd is under consideration to be nominated to the seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit that was vacated in 2010 when Judge Stanley F. Birch, Jr. retired.[7]
Personal
Floyd's husband, Tim Floyd, also is a professor at the Walter F. George School of Law.[8][9] They have two children.[10]
