Dactyloscopus byersi, known commonly as the Notchtail stargazer in Mexico,[1] is a species of sand stargazer in the genus Dactyloscopus.[2] It is a tropical blenny found from the Gulf of California to Panama, in the eastern central Pacific Ocean.[2] It was named by C.E. Dawson in 1969,[3] and can reach a maximum length of 5 centimetres.[2] Blennies in this species feed primarily off of zoobenthos and small bony fish,[4] and swim at a maximum depth of 2 metres.[2]
