Osburn and J.T. Nichols in 1916, originally under the name Dactyloscopus cinctus,[6] and can reach a maximum length of 4.5 centimetres.[5] Blennies in this species swim at a depth range of 1-27 metres,[5] and feed primarily off of zoobenthos and finfish.[7]
