Description

When young, the turquoise shiner is gray on the top and sides, with a green stripe and pale fins. As an adult, the males are bigger than the females, growing up to 3.5 inches in length. The adults are green on the top and silver on the bottom, with pale fins. During breeding, males turn a metallic blue on top, and the fins have white margins. [2]
