Heteroclinus tristis, known commonly as the Sharp-nose weedfish in Australia,[2] is a species of clinid in the genus Heteroclinus.[3] It is a subtropical blenny found around southern Australia, in the western Pacific and Indian Ocean.[3] It was named by C.B. Klunzinger in 1872, originally under the name Cristiceps tristis,[4] and can reach a maximum length of 30 centimetres.[3] Blennies in this species feed primarily off of bony fish, shrimp and prawns.[5]
