Website Crestwood High School Official Website Crestwood High School is a public high school in Baulkham Hills, a suburb in the northwest Sydney, New South Wales. Crestwood High School is typical of most other suburban state secondary schools, and offers education for students from grade seven through to twelve. In 2010, the school had some 992 students enrolled and a staff of 91.[1] The school hosts the standard educational facilities and also includes a large agricultural farm and a support unit which provides special education services for the disabled. The students of Crestwood High School perform narrowly below the average benchmarks in national examinations as compared to other similar schools.,[2] although the 'similar schools' measure has been widely crisicised[3] for[4] invalidity[5] and[6] innacuracy.[7]

Location
The secondary school is located in the suburb of Baulkham Hills in the Sydney Hills District. The school resides on 17 Chapel Lane, next to the Norwest Anglican Church. A vast majority of the students come from local suburbs Baulkham Hills, Kings Langley, Bella Vista, Castle Hill, Kellyville and Seven Hills/Toongabbie. About a dozen bus services (public and school buses) are provided by private operator HillsBus which run to some of the aforementioned locations. The nearest train station is located at Seven Hills and a bus service connects from there to the school.
Student opportunities
Crestwood High School offers courses in accordance with the NSW Board of Studies. Grade seven and eight students (Stage 4) complete a standard range of topics which are preset by the school in accordance with DET guidelines. These vary according to the schools capacity, but include standard subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science and HSIE.[8] Grade nine and ten students elect to complete two 200 hr courses over the stage and two 100 hr courses. Subject selections for Stage 6 are done according to DET guidelines for the HSC.
The school operates a Gifted & Talented class for its top performing students (based on semesterly and common examinations) in Stage four, and offers a streamed Gifted & Talented class in Stage five.[9] Years 7 and 8 students work on the 'Gifted & Talented Forum Project' annually, an open dialogue for the presentation of ideas and opinion.
Crestwood High students from Grades 8-10 have the option of participating in a weekly sporting competition (i.e. Grade Sport) against neighbouring schools, as well as entering knock-out tournaments and a variety of regional and state sporting events.[10]
