Kymmenegård CountyCounty of Sweden ← 1775–1809 → History - Treaty of Åbo August 7, 1743 - Established 1775 - Treaty of Fredrikshamn September 17 1809 Kymmenegård County (Swedish: Kymmenegårds län, Finnish: Kymenkartanon lääni) was a county of Sweden from 1775 to 1775.
The county was created in 1775 by dividing the Savolax and Kymmenegård County (Swedish: Savolax och Kymmenegårds län, Finnish: Savonlinnan ja Kymenkartanon lääni) into two parts: Savolax and Karelia County and Kymmenegård County.
The Savolax and Kymmenegård County had been created following the Treaty of Nystad in 1721 out of the northern parts of the counties of Viborg and Nyslott and Kexholm. In 1743 following a new conflict another part in the south was ceded to Russia in the Treaty of Åbo. Togeather the ceded territories became part of the Russian Vyborg Governorate, which also became known as Old Finland.
By the Treaty of Fredrikshamn in 1809 Sweden ceded all its territories in Finland, east of the Torne River, to Russia. The county was succeeded by the St. Michel Governorate in the Grand Duchy of Finland as part of the Russian Empire.
