The Council on Renal Nutrition is a council of the National Kidney Foundation and serves as the main national level organization for renal dietitians who work in the United States and who are engaged in providing care to, or are interested in matters related to, patients with kidney diseases.
Charter
The Council on Renal Nutrition functions as a professional council within the framework of the National Kidney Foundation and networks with other organizations to support the foundation's goal of making lives better for those with chronic kidney disease or acute kidney injury through education, outreach and research in the field of nutrition as it relates to prevention, eradication and treatment of kidney and urologic diseases.
Journal
The council's official journal is the Journal of Renal Nutrition, which is also the official publication of the International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism.
Meetings
The council holds a number of regional meetings and annual conferences on an annual basis. The main meeting is during the National Kidney Foundation Spring Clinical Meeting.
Joel D. Kopple Award
To recognize the contributions of Joel D. Kopple to the field of renal nutrition, the council annually bestows the Joel D. Kopple Award on a distinguished individual for his/her efforts to advance the field of renal nutrition.
