Clonliffe is an area of north Dublin, Ireland between Ballybough and Drumcondra. Clonliffe Road is the wide linking thoroughfare nearly a mile long forming the central artery. There is an entrance at the Drumcondra end, to Holy Cross College (Dublin) and the grounds of the archbishop of Dublin's residence. Main access to Croke Park G.A.A sports ground is from Jones's Road, the principal turn off on the south side of Clonliffe Road.
In the mid 19th century, it was proposed that a university for Ireland be located at Cloniffe.[1]
