Corps of Commissionaires

Corps of Commissionaires

The Corps of Commissionaires is a British security firm that has regional offices around the world.

History

The Corps of Commissionaires was founded in 1859 by Captain Sir Edward Walter KCB. It is the oldest security company in the world. Currently trading as 'Corps Security', the head of the company has always been the British monarch. This tradition began with Queen Victoria and continues through to the present day with Queen Elizabeth II. In 2009, the Corps celebrated its 150th anniversary with a reception hosted at St James's Palace by HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Services

Corps Security specialises in providing corporate security and has over 3,000 licensed security staff working in the UK. These staff are managed from 12 regional offices around the UK[1], and they work on various sites including all Asda National Distribution Centres. The Corps also provides security to Millennium Point, which is a landmark tourist attraction and the flagship of Birmingham's Eastside Development.

Corps Security also has regional offices in Papua New Guinea and Australia. It also retains strong links with its offshoot The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires [2].
