Career
Born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear,[2] Barnes made his senior debut at the age of 16 for Darlington on 3 March 2009, against Notts County.[3] Despite his youth, the performance of Barnes was complimented by manager Dave Penney.[4]
Barnes turned professional in the summer of 2010.[5]
In September 2010, he joined Whitby Town on a month's loan,[6] where he played seven games in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.[7]
