ntupdate =Adam Rundle (born
8 July 1984 inDurham ) is an English footballer who plays for Rochdale He is a left-sided midfielder who began his career in Newcastle United's youth team, but was released in 2001 without being offered a professional contract.After his release from Newcastle, Rundle joined Darlington. He only played sporadically for Darlington, and joined Carlisle United on a free transfer in January 2003. At Carlisle, Rundle played semi-regularly, and was regarded as a decent prospect for the future. However, after failing to agree contract terms, Rundle was released in the summer of 2004.
Having failed to get a contract with a Football League team, Rundle resurrected his career in Ireland with Dublin City, where he became a teammate of former English international
Carlton Palmer . When Palmer later that year was named manager of Mansfield Town, he made Rundle one of his first signings.Rundle played regularly for Mansfield, and has scored nine goals for the Stags. However, opinions were divided among the Mansfield fans about his quality. His supporters saw him as a brilliant player on his best days. His critics believed he was far too inconsistent and played too many bad games in-between the occasional good performance to defend a place in the starting lineup. His contract expired at the end of the 2005-06 season, and manager
Peter Shirtliff subsequently decided not to renew the contract.On
30 June 2006 , Rochdale managerSteve Parkin made Rundle his first signing of the summer. Adam has signed a one year deal, and will be given the number 11 shirt.In January 2006, Rundle got to experience his boyhood dream of playing at
St James' Park in Newcastle, when Mansfield played Newcastle in the third round of theFA Cup . Mansfield held their own against their famed opponents and only lost 1-0, and most observers believe Rundle had an excellent game against his boyhood favourites.On
26 May 2008 Rundle played in theFootball League Two play-off final at Wembley, representing Rochdale. Rundle socred an exceptional goal from his right foot.External links
