Conquest: Hadrian's Divide (also referred to as Conquest, Conquest: HD or simply CHD) is an independent video game from Crystal Core. The project was announced on Saturday 11 December 2010.[1] and utilizes the Unreal Development Kit. The game is planned for release on Windows.

The game is set in the historical setting of the period when the Roman Empire controlled much of Britannia. The game pitches two teams of warriors, the Roman and Celtic forces. The game is played in the third person. Many details about the gameplay features are yet to be known. However it has been mentioned that there will be extensive community support and customisation options for each player.[2] No release date has been set, however the development team have committed to releasing weekly updates, showing the progress of development until the game's eventual release.

Setting and plot

Conquest: Hadrian's Divide is set in an alternate history of events that happened during the Roman occupation of Britannia. The story follows the time at which Hadrian's Wall was under construction, and therefore features many battle locations that are strategically placed around the Northern areas of Britannia (Or now known as the United Kingdom). The Roman forces are the invading team in the storyline of the game, and the Celts are fighting back for control of a land they once called their own. Conquest takes the player to an altered historical setting which is said to provide a more enjoyable gaming experience, rather than a history simulator.

Reception

The teaser trailer video went live on 11 December 2010. It was received with mixed opinions about the amount of content shown in the video and accompanying images. However the development team has replied to many of these comments personally stating that there will be much more content on show at each of the WDU's (Weekly Developer Updates).[3]
