David Hopkins (comic artist)

David Hopkins is a webcomic artist who works in the realm of furry cartoon comics and webcomics. He has created several independent storylines, some of which he has stated he plans to integrate some time in the future.

The Artist

David Hopkins, in his early career in the field of webcomics, was known as the furry artist that did heavily violent and gory furry artwork. This changed with what was to be Jack's third story arc, although it was the first one publicly available. The story was called "Trixi and Tet" and told the story of Tet, as he dealt with the sickness of his wife Trixi, and her eventual death. This, along with the second story arc named "Angry Brian" seemed to set the extremes that David Hopkins' would go to in his artwork.

In addition, the belief by some that the Christian themes used in Jack might in some way tell us a little about David Hopkin's own belief's, is a misnomer. However, Arc XXV: Joann And Jeremy does say something about his Progressive and/or liberal leanings, as he does make some very strong statements in this and other Jack Arc's.

Major bodies of work

David Hopkins has finished two very successful comics, Rework The Dead, and Rework The Dead II. These deal with a story line and backstory not entirely unlike the video game, Resident Evil or the Living Dead movies (except rework the dead is far more militaristic). These are not considered canon to the Jack story line, but the author has stated he will remake these, and alter them so that they can be considered canon to Jack. Hopkins is also consistently writing and updating his current project, Jack. Where RTD I and II dealt with violent warfare, Jack deals more with philosophical issues and questions than it does with the violence more common with Hopkins' earlier work. He is also working on a novel entitled "When Summer Woke..." expected to be released July, 2008.
