- Coffee sommelier
-
A Coffee Sommelier is a professional barista who has knowledge in the history of coffee, the different types of coffee, latte art, how the bean is roasted, etc. No one just becomes a coffee sommelier instantly. It takes years of work and study. Originally, the french term "sommelier" described a wine steward or waiter in charge of wine. A sommelier is generally expected to have extensive knowledge of wines, their suitability with various dishes, and how to serve and decant them. However, nowadays a sommelier's role is considered much broader than working only with the wines, and must encompass all aspects of the service, with an enhanced focus on wines, coffees, spirits, and tobacco.
