Real Story Group Type Privately held Industry Market research Founded 2001 by Tony Byrne Headquarters 3470 Olney-Laytonsville Road, Suite 131 Olney, MD Website Real Story Group Real Story Group is a content technology analyst firm, based in Silver Spring, USA. Previously known as CMS Watch, the company announced a name change to Real Story Group in February, 2010.[1] The company publishes reports on various areas, including web content management, enterprise content management, enterprise search, web analytics, digital asset management, and social software. The main focus is the technology, and how this is suited to specific scenarios. According to the company,[2] an important differentiator to other analyst firms (such as Forrester Research and Gartner) is that it works only for technology solutions buyers, and not for vendors. Though not as well known as its larger competitors, the Real Story Group blog (previously known as "CMS Watch Trends") is often referenced as a source for content management information.[3]
The founder of the company, Tony Byrne,[4] also publishes articles in other media on this subject, like EContent, where he is one of the panelists for their Top 100[5] and Information Today. He has also been cited by mainstream business media, like Forbes.[6] Byrne likens his company with Consumer Reports.[7] CMS Watch refuses to sign non-disclosure agreements with product vendors.[8] CMS Watch has been remarked for criticizing Microsoft's SharePoint web capabilities.[7]
The company release a semi-annual report "The Web CMS Report", whose findings have been cited by other computing media.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
