Club career

Until 2003 Kaká played for the Brazilian club União Bandeirante, before being loaned to other Brazilian clubs. In 2006, he made the jump to Europe, joining Portuguese Liga side Académica de Coimbra. In 2008, Kaká transferred to the Bundesliga club Hertha BSC for 1.9 Million Euro. Kaká made his Bundesliga debut on August 17, 2008, against Eintracht Frankfurt. He earned a total of twelve caps in the 2008–09 season. After earning only two Bundesliga caps in the first half of the 2009–10 season, Hertha loaned him to AC Omonia. In Cyprus, he helped AC Omonia win the First Division for the first time after seven years. After the six-month loan to AC Omonia, he returned to Hertha BSC. After making only a single appearance for Hertha following his return from Cyprus, the club loaned him to S.C. Braga to gain more playing experience.[1] In Portugal, he established himself as a regular, making twelve league appearances, and featured in eight of Braga's nine Europa League matches including the final. At the end of the season, he returned to Berlin once again.[2] On the last day of summer transfers for season 2011–12, Kaká was loaned out again, this time to Cypriot champions and UEFA Champions League contenders APOEL.[3] He participated for the first time in his career in the UEFA Champions League group stages, making his debut in the competition on 19 October 2011 at Estádio do Dragão against FC Porto, in a match witch APOEL snatched a 1–1 draw.
